Thionin acetate (Thionine acetate) is a compound found in the seeds, stems, roots, and leaves of many plant species with antibacterial activity. It is also a metachromatic cationic histological dye widely used in biological staining.
Can be used for tissue staining, such as staining brainstem slices, to observe and analyze brainstem structure and determine the location of the preBötC and characteristics of related regions.
The staining process involves treating tissue sections with ethanol and distilled water, then immersing them in Thionin acetate solution, followed by washing and clearing in xylene for observation and analysis.

Thioflavin T is a cationic Benzothiazole dye that exhibits enhanced fluorescence upon binding to amyloid in tissue sections. It is a fluorescent dye used for staining Aβ fibrils with green fluorescence and is commonly used to measure protein fibrillation. Weakly fluorescent in aqueous solutions, it shows enhanced emission at 482 nm when bound to Aβ plaques. It can be applied in Alzheimer's disease research and to detect endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) by displaying green fluorescence when binding to protein aggregates.
